Things from the past, new & old!
Just had a visit from an old friend….I don’t mean old in age, but old in friendship. Met this friend in my early years, and became “kindred spirits” as Anne of Green Gables would say.
In Anne of Green Gables, Anne and Diana were kindred spirits. They had so much fun together, and had some really crazy experiences. That’s a lot like my friend and I. We think alike and have some of the same interests. However, SHE is the elder…by one month!
Good friends are so hard to find these days. So hard to find someone who is actually interested in what is going on in your life. So hard to find someone to laugh with, cry with, share stories with…everyone is caught up in their own world. Yes, there have been many years that my friend and I have been caught up in the activities of raising children, carting them here and there, cooking, working, generally being a Mama. But we always have been able to reconnect after a time of not seeing each other.
If you have a friend, hold on to that friendship. Cultivate it, encourage it, be thankful for it. Good friends are like gold, consider that friendship an investment in the future. For when you are old, you will have someone that you can reminisce with, remembering all those crazy times!
“To have a friend, you must first be one.” So, if you are in need of a friend, stretch out your hand to someone. You never know when that person is in need of a friend, too!
I’ve heard it said that a real friend is one whom you may not have seen in years, but when you do, you can pick up just where you left off. The BEST friends are OLD friends. An old friend may be someone you just met last week, but at least you have a 7 day history already! My old friend has not always been an old friend. There was a time when we were new friends!
So go out and make some NEW friends! You just might find yourself an OLD friend in the days to come!
